  • MetaGrid Pro and Cubase Pro 12

    Long time no see !
I’ve been away from Cubase since Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was released, feel guilty being so lazy.
    Anyway, I’m back !
Getting back into producing music in Cubase
I haven’t followed the forum at all.
How’s the integration with Cubase, any issues I need to be aware of ?
Hope the documentation is good, because I need to install it on my new laptop.
Generic Remotes in Cubase documented and working ?
Suppose I’ll find out soon. Remember I had some issues long time ago.
Using Windows 11, hope that’s no a problem.

    Catch you later,
    Ronnie

Hi Ronnie, I'm using Cubase 12 on Windows 11 (and Mac OSX) and Metagrid Pro works great for me. Take a look at the new updated manual, the link for it has been posted on the beta forum

        Hi,

I couldn't work out how to post a new topic. But my question is about Meta Grid Pro and ports. Can I assign a button in MGP to a specific port. I ask because I currently have a project in Bome MIDI Translator Pro which will need 3 different ports coming in from MGP. Is there a way to do this without using 3 iPads?.

AFAIK it'n not possible to do this, MGP use just one MIDI ports for the buttons (and another one for MIDI messages)

JTB I am afraid you can't do this with MG Pro. MG Pro has only one general MIDI port (Metasystem - MIDI). We may think about implementing additional MIDI ports but so far this is the first request.

Actually I really second that request for additional MIDI ports. Right now if we want to use MGP for controlling continuous parameters, like send levels on the mixer and also use it to send CC messages to MIDI tracks in Cubase we have to include the Metasystem MIDI port in the All MIDI inputs settings, but this means that sometimes we can accidentally send MIDI messages to VST instruments, so I think it would be better if we could have at least an additional MIDI port

Yes, this would be great for people migrating across from complex setups that use multiple MIDI ports. And not only migrating to MGP but using MGP in addition to existing workflows that use other programs to interface between MGP and our DAW. This would become a lot easier.

Yes, and most VST's use many CC's as default.

OK, I have added this request to our backlog - we will add two additional MIDI ports and enable the target selection for MIDI enabled objects in the editor. We will try to squeeze it in MG1.4.

And yes, you can change the grids/scens through incoming CC messages. Each scene/grid has got "Switching on Incoming MIDI CC" section where you can define the CC parameter, port and value.

This is a great functionality that I'd love to able to use for instrument specific articulation pages. Is there a way to make it so that the CC message to change grid happens automatically upon track selection within Cubase?

Wow! this is great support. I can't wait to start using MGP!

One more, can I assign a scene/grid change function to a button that also outputs CC or key command messages?.

Buttons can display grids together with triggering macros. For each button there is the Grid Display Action setting with four options: None, Go to Previous Grid, Display Grid and Show/Hide Omnispace. MG first triggers the Grid Display Action and then the macro.
